An area on the outskirts and in a state of neglect is changing its face thanks to renovation, energy efficiency, the inclusion of a public square and urban gardens. An ambitious intervention for the outskirts of a municipality that has long been affected by progressive decay, forcing residents to live in increasingly disheartening conditions and in damp-damaged, dilapidated, poorly maintained dwellings. <\/p>

Architecture understood as spatial and social regeneration is at the heart of this project. The complex consists of 48 buildings on an area of 6,800 m2 and was created in 1980 following the tragic earthquake that struck Irpinia as a public housing project (ERP).<\/p>

The redevelopment in Casoria, is an opportunity to change not only the buildings but also their surroundings, the recovery of which stems from a new image of the city that becomes sustainable, innovative and green.<\/p>

The project stems from the idea of redeveloping the entire complex, leaving all the inhabitants in their homes to avoid causing them further physical, social and psychological discomfort. The first objective is to reduce the consumption of impermeable land and to have a greater qualitative and quantitative use of the green area in a municipality characterised by very low environmental standards, the second is to provide the municipality with new public spaces with recreational and social areas. Green becomes a means of visual communication but also a sign of accessibility and interaction with the different roads, it is an aid to orientation by increasing emotional security among people.<\/p>

The areas identified are: the enclosed Community Garden to the north, the inner courtyard with the children’s play area and the basketball\/football court in the centre, the square and the flower meadow to the south, the dog area and skate park with the electricity cabin building used as street art, and the vegetable gardens to the east and west.
The internal routes are organised according to a hierarchy reflecting the flow pattern, giving priority to pedestrian mobility over vehicular mobility.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
