Energy park Faenza
A new way to develop the synergy between production and ecology
The area of intervention, in the Municipality of Faenza, is a private agricultural area granted under surface rights to the developer Gruppo Hera Spa for the development of an agri-voltaic park, with a total area of 66 hectares.
The area is an integral part of the strategy for the development of a green infrastructure around Faenza, with the creation of a bicycle/pedestrian ring in a naturalistic and urban setting.
The mesh of previous paths is implemented through the creation of new publicly accessible paths, restoring porosity to a part of the territory that until now has remained mostly interclosed.
The project preserves the current agricultural use, which is diversified into three types of areas: “agricultural,” in which the current cultivation characteristics are maintained (20 ha); “solar agricultural,” in which the agrivoltaic panel installation has characteristics that allow the land to be cultivated (27 ha); and an area for “biodiversity,” with forestation interventions differentiated by species, conformation of spaces and accessibility characteristics (14 ha). The remaining area is occupied by infrastructure for mobility and energy management.
The three area types are integrated and interlinked.
The creation of a tree area for biodiversity is the focus of the forestation project. Areas are planned for tall trees, consisting of a mix of species typical of the Po Plain formation, integrated with a wild shrub undergrowth, suitable as shelter for animal species.
Part of the forest is accessible to the public and proposes a series of community facilities arranged within an area resolved as an urban park.
A distinctive feature of the project is the work on recognizability. The presence of pine trees, isolated or in pairs, at the intersections and notable points of the agrarian layouts represents an added value for the area: the project provides for their preservation and arranges visual buffer areas.
In addition, the perception of the tracks is pursued with the new creation of tree rows: they populate the countryside with new recognizable signs, repropose and actualize the historical memory of the Romagna planting, and shade the paths.
