Fai Bene primary school
A school for little explorers
The project stems from the belief that educational landscape is a silent teacher: it suggests actions, stimulates thoughts, ignites emotions. An environment that teaches how to care for nature by observing and experiencing it.
Every element of the project is designed for children and becomes part of an open-air laboratory: starting from the dunes that protect against noise and invite to play, up to rain gardens that collect rainwater and teach the value of resources.
Vegetation is selected with attention to climatic, phytopathological and maintenance aspects. Jacaranda peaks from the green roof like a bell tower, while willows, maples, and piers build vegetation filters, shade zones, and soft boundaries.
Water, through the pond and wetland, becomes an opportunity to discover aquatic microcosms. The landscape becomes an educational tool, a place for play and active learning.
The parking lot, integrated into the greenery with drop-offs, bike path and skatepark, is hidden by a flowering hill. Indoor gardens, close to the classrooms, provide secluded spaces for observing and being outdoors, while the green roof is structured into an adventure trail that stimulates movement and discovery.
A project that blends architecture, nature and education, where growing up also means inhabiting the landscape.
