GRANELLO: Cultivating The Future
Remember, sow, eat
The project developed by Greencure landscaping for the new pavilion for the Barilla Group in Parma can be summed up in the motto “Remember, sow, eat”.
The motto is based on the three concepts:
- Remember (making memory of our food heritage),
- Sow (bringing back contact with the earth) and
- Eat (nourish in a more conscious way, discovering forgotten tastes, flavors and smells).
The landscape design enhances the species in the area and expands the surrounding rural space. The greenery accompanies the visitor to enjoy the spaces perceived or visited as places of living (work, rest, recreation). The developed landscape has a strong connotation of natural space and is divided into four major areas: Rural green, green that mends the existing, green that mitigates the environment, and educational green.
- The rural greenery is articulated in scenic ring wings, which expand from the center according to a musical rhythm marked by the planting sixths of the plants.
- The green space, which stitches up the existing, affects the office area between the cafeteria and the perimeter south of the main entrance. It consists of outdoor green rooms that generate relaxation areas.
- The green mitigating environment features a hillside, which acts as a noise barrier, with tree embankments and shrub belts, and a phyto-purification basin that provides environmental continuity by generating feeding areas for the small animals present.
- Educational greenery is defined by the indoor Giocacampus, whose areas are composed of educational and research gardens, in which plants are planted in an alternating and dynamic manner.
Eight are the areas, eight are the selected crops, and eight are the years of land rotation. The species selected for teaching are four and are present in Barilla’s food production: oats, barley, rye, wheat. The remaining four are species selected for soil regeneration, using the green manure technique.
