PUA Ferrara - Ex Alc.Este

A new life for the Ferrara Distillery area

Greencure landscaping, together with studio LBLA + Partners and WNA Architects develop the master plan for the recovery and redevelopment of a former distillery in Ferrara along the banks of the Boicelli and Burana canals.

The urban regeneration project of the former Alc.Este Distillery Implementation Plan envisions the redevelopment of the existing landscape, identifying three major strategic areas encompassing historic building and new residential. Those are: urban green, mitigation green and sports green.

Urban and mitigation greenery is divided into the following types: entrance boulevard, green crown, community and private gardens, public and appurtenant parking lots, riparian and wooded greenery. They are implemented in consequential time phases with each other and at the same time as the built-up area.

The goal is to build an urban landscape with a strong connotation of “natural space” and in which people can distract and relax.

The green system is identified by a diversity of plants and micro-ecosystems, benefiting biodiversity, is developed according to a contemporary stylistic vocabulary, in line with the architecture of the place, attentive to the well-being of citizens.

The goal is to realize a small self-sufficient community with ecological endowments and collective equipment to serve guests, residents and citizens.
For example, the Collective Gardens area, founded on the principles of conviviality and good neighborliness, is developed through green clusters with: dog areas, groves of different species, grassy green hill for free play, picnic area, social gardens and a playground.
