The conceptual idea has been the Hortus conclusus, consisting of 3 areas thought to help the Social relationships, (Big Tree and Green Rooms), Interpersonal relationships (Pergolas), and Privacy relationships (Little Wood).

The concept concerns an unused terrace of 430 m2, open on 3 sides, that enters the Hospice Department on the 7th floor of Bassini Hospital. The space was created as a meeting place, recreation, and rest for patients in the ward, and also for their families, and for healthcare professionals.

The green space is set up as: a of the senses (smell, space, view) with colorful and aromatic species; a space of to Do (touch and taste) with the practice of horticulture in the vegetable garden, orchard, or greenhouse; a sleeping space with shade and water, (trees, comfortable seating, a fountain and waterfall); a connective space (turf and paths).

The department’s inner hallway is a winter garden, with green, seats and a big fountain.
